The Key in Further Education

Since January 2019, The Key has been working in partnership with Newcastle College, helping them to realise their goal of creating meaningful youth social action opportunities for their students to life in an innovative and exciting way.

Thanks to initial funding from Pears Foundation and the Association of Colleges, as part of the #iwill Social Action programme, The Key Framework has been used within the FE college setting, enabling hundreds of students to explore social action on their own terms and make a positive impact on their local communities through designing and running their very own social action projects. In doing so, students have improved their personal and social skills, built their confidence and formed a growth mindset along the way. The broader positive impact has been widely experienced throughout the college and their external partners too.

Due to its success, The Key Framework is now fully embedded into the College curriculum and the additional student support offer with Work Experience Coaches taking the lead in its delivery.

Building on the success experienced with Newcastle College, The Key are beginning to extend this unique offer to further FE Colleges, working together to design a programme that supports your college’s needs. If you want to know more about becoming an ‘early adopter’ and having The Key Framework within your FE College, please email Leah.Roberts@thekeyuk.org for more information.
