We’re so excited to announce that NCS has awarded a grant to The Key and a collaboration of 17 Key Partners. Together, over the next two years, we’ll empower 750 young people to explore social action on their own terms through the KEY+ Challenge.

The KEY+ Challenge is the perfect tool to empower young people to:

  • Use their voices and be heard.
  • Lead and deliver projects and activities that are meaningful to them.
  • Build skills and confidence needed to thrive.
  • Become active in their communities by tackling social issues.

We’re delighted to receive a significant grant from NCS and be able to share it with 17 Key Partners who responded to our open call. The support will enable us to empower young people living in areas of deprivation and facing challenging personal circumstances to complete a KEY+ Project tackling a social issue they’re passionate about.

Young people have amazing ideas and solutions to community problems, so we’re excited to elevate their voices and make their ideas happen. In doing so, young people will build important life and employability skills and improve their confidence and self-belief too.

Our brilliant NCS partners include: Bright Futures Young Women’s Project, Newcastle United Foundation, Jack Drum Arts, Children North East, Cheesy Waffles Project, Pride Action North, Newcastle College, Gateshead Library, Linx Youth Project, Durham Agency Against Crime, Young and Sweet, Success4All, Box Youth Project, St John’s School and Sixth Form, Newcastle Learning and Skills, Oxhill Youth Club and Auxillia Youth Services.

We’ll be posting updates on the project over time so be sure to keep a look out. If you’d be interested in partnering with The Key on a future funded project, then please don’t hesitate to reach out to Leah on leah@thekeyuk.org
