Learning Curves
This summer, not only have we launched our Kickstarter programme here at The Key, but we also welcomed a University placement student in the Marketing and Income Generation Team too.
After previously completing a short placement with us in 2019, The Key were delighted to welcome Jess back in to the team for a yearlong placement. Jess was eager to stay on and continue learning and we were thrilled to be able to offer her the opportunity to gain experience and skills with us here at The Key.
Jess currently studies Politics and media and communications at Newcastle University and has been applying what she’s learned in her studies to her role with The Key.
Hear a few words from Jess...
"My first few months at The Key was first a very exciting and daunting change for myself, with hybrid working and coming into an environment where I had previously only had one point of contact, Programme Delivery.
Coming into The Key at such a pivotal point in our growth made the movement evermore interesting with every piece of work I do vital to the day to day running of the organisation but a learning point for me. Over my few months here I have learned so much vital information from how The Key works to how I can be most effective within the organisation."
My first couple months very much involved myself meeting the team and the board with some great discussions to what Marketing and Income Generation were working on prior to my arrival. I have to say I was welcomed with open arms to this charity, with the opportunity to throw myself into every task I was given. The amount I have learnt in my short time here has been vital to my learning curve as a student. From social media to funding applications, I am learning it all!
The next year with The Key looks like a very exciting time for the whole team with our aim to reach more and more young people, but I have to say I am particularly excited to see how I can make a difference with every department within the team.
The Key’s 30th anniversary is coming up quick and fast, and I am sure my time with The Key will be packed with very exciting movements towards reaching as many young people as we possibly can!
