KEY+ in Partnership: Unlocking Opportunities Together

At The Key, we believe in the power of collaboration. Over the past few years, we’ve worked closely with our partners on funded projects designed to support young people with specific needs. Thanks to these partnerships, we’ve been able to make a real difference, and we’re excited to build on this success.

Recently, with support from NCS funding, we’ve reached over 400 young people aged 16-17 across the region, helping them build essential skills while contributing to meaningful social action in their communities. This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible partnership of 15 organisations who joined us over the past year. It’s been an amazing journey, and we’re eager to keep growing these funded initiatives.

This year, we’re thrilled to announce a new opportunity for young people struggling with the transition to Key Stage 3 (KS3). Following a successful pilot with Children North East, the KEY+ Challenge will now support 200 young people as they transition into high school. Targeting Year 7 students, this project will help them form positive relationships with their peers, engage in activities of their choice, and boost their confidence as they navigate this key stage of their education.

"KEY+ transitions has made a huge impact on building friendships, supporting young people to work together and realise their potential. It has helped young people who would not normally get the opportunity to be involved in planning and carrying out off site visits because of their behaviour or anxiety to be successful and feel proud."

- Melanie Guy, Children North East

We’re always looking for new ways to work together. If you work in schools and are interested in exploring how your students could benefit, please get in touch with Leah at leah@thekeyuk.org. We're also keen to explore how we can grow this initiative wider and are looking for interested partners.

We’d love to explore how we can collaborate to create even more opportunities for young people. If you’ve got any ideas or would like to be considered for future funded programmes (in schools or other) then please reach out to Leah.
