BEA do good for those without this Christmas

Five young ladies from Durham chose to give to others this festive period with their Stage 3 project as they geared up to push a present drive for less fortunate children in County Durham.

Key Group, BEA, got a big yes at panel earlier this month after they talked about their fantastic idea to donate stockings and gift parcels to children and young adults whose families are visiting the County Durham clothing bank this Christmas. Their informal panel style saw the girls talk about their passion to help others over the festive period whilst impressing panel members with the amount of searching for information and negotiation the girls had done to make one of the most detailed budgets ever! The young women even wrote to and rang local stores and businesses to kindly ask for any donations or discounts, so they could maximise the number of gifts they could donate. 

After a trip to the shops and a Santa's elf style stocking production line, the girls headed to Brandon Welfare Centre's present donation drive on Tuesday 12th December. The girls dealt with people in power and authority and got the go ahead to miss school in order to spend a full day volunteering with those visiting the Clothing Bank.

With too many donations to count, the girls, alongside County Durham Clothing Bank, really made an enormous difference to children and young people from County Durham by making sure more people were waking up on 25th December with a gift from Santa. It's fair to say BEA played a significant role in raising the spirits of the local community whilst building their own skills and confidence.

BEA thoroughly enjoyed their experience of planning and delivering their Stage 3 Key Projects and after such a success, they're already thinking about what community benefit project they can do next. Their Key Facilitator, Rachael Avery said "“They’ve loved getting involved and getting the chance to put a smile on people’s faces.”
