Hebburn Lasses - Group of 2017

Three inspirational young ladies from disadvantage communities in Hebburn joined forces through The Key with big plans of making a big impact on the North East community.

Rosa, Naomi and Jade met at Hebburn Comprehensive School and began their Key adventure after discovering they each had a shared passion of wanting to help those around them.

The Hebburn Lasses began their Stage One Key Project with hopes of increasing the number of Christmas shoeboxes to Samaritans Purse at their school. The girls came up with the brilliant idea of setting up their own school stall which sold selected items that were fit for going into shoeboxes. Their ambitious idea encouraged more students and teachers to create and donate their own Christmas shoebox because Hebburn Lasses made the whole process easier. As a result of their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, the girls managed to help donate an outstanding 132 shoeboxes to the cause alongside a cash donation from their proceeds of the stall.

After such a successful stage 1 project, Hebburn Lasses came back fighting again as they planned to make their Stage 2 project even better still but this time round focussing on helping the homeless. The girls decided to use a similar model as their Stage 1 project, by creating their own ‘Help for Homeless’ stall.

Rosa, Naomi and Jade set about searching for information on what the homeless community truly needed before coming back together to plan, budget and pitch their Stage 2 idea. The Key Community Panel were blown away with all of the hard work that the Hebburn Lasses had put into the planning their inspirational and heartfelt idea and how much the girls had developed throughout The Key Framework. 

With a yes at panel, the girls hit the ground running as they headed to Sage HQ to sell essentials care items to Sage employees, asking them to donate them back to the girls so they could create homeless care packs. This project was incredibly successful and saw the group donate 10 2 man tents, 10 sleeping bags, lots of mince pies, selection boxes and foil blankets to the Making Winter Warmer For Those Without project over the winter period. The girls also donated care packs containing sanitary items, wipes, socks, underwear and long-lasting food which they donated to homeless people from across the region.
