Meet Our Youth Advisory Board: Part 2
At The Key, young voices are at the heart of everything we do – and our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) plays a crucial role in shaping the direction of our work. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on three of our incredible members: Erin, Efa and Ruby. These young people bring their unique perspectives, experiences, and energy to the board, and we’re excited to share a bit about what motivates them.
Meet Erin
What inspired you to join The Key’s Youth Advisory Board?
"The main thing that inspired me was the incredible work that The Key do for young people and the long lasting impact they make."
What change do you hope to help create through your role on the YAB?
"I hope to inspire more young people to get involved and show they can make a difference in their world."
What’s a fun or surprising skill you will bring to the team?
"I love to talk to people and make lots of friends whenever I can!"
Meet Efa
What inspired you to join The Key’s Youth Advisory Board?
"I heard about the Youth Advisory Board from my cadets. I thought it sounded like a good opportunity to help improve the lives of young people and spreading awareness of mental health issues."
What’s a fun or surprising skill you will bring to the team?
"A fun skill I bring to the table could be music. I love anything to do with music and musicals and I have performed in many different shows."
Meet Ruby
What inspired you to join The Key’s Youth Advisory Board?
"I was inspired to join The Key’s Youth Advisory Board so that I can give a voice to the children I work with and have a positive impact that will affect more young people in the future!
I was also inspired to join the board due to The Key’s commitment to believing and providing opportunities to all young people particularly to those growing up in challenging circumstances as I would like to be part of the change to make sure all young people have people who believe in them!"
What change do you hope to help create through your role on the YAB?
"Being a part of the YAB I hope to create change by highlighting and helping limit the barriers that could prevent a young person from being involved in different activities. [...] Through working at a community college I hope to use my experience to understand the challenges different young people may experience so they can be best supported!"
What’s a fun or surprising skill you will bring to the team?
"One skill I hope to bring to the team is open mindedness and adventurousness to try new things and experiences! One surprising skill I hope to bring to the team are my limited Duolingo Dutch skills :)"
