Five Guys and a Fry

Paige, Maia, Ellie and Jessica wanted to inspire young people to get into education or employment with their KEY Project and came up with the brilliant idea to run their very own careers fayre at school.

The group got to planning soon after their idea was finalised and first had to seek permission from school before calling local employers and creating a budget to make the fayre pop with refreshments, posters and more.

Five Guys and Fries were soon ready to pitch their idea and plans to panel where they truly impressed with both their pitch and the project idea. The young women talked about how they had developed their skills by planning their project including by ringing suppliers to ask for prices and costs which helped to improve their communication skills and by dealing with people in power authority to get permission to run the event from the school and then also to ring and invite careers advisors and potential future employers too.

The event was a big success with lots of young people attending the fayre and a range of different professionals who came to speak at the event. Just some of the employers who made the event included care workers, firefighters, prison offices, mechanics, teachers and more.

The event was such a success that the schools are now going to be running the event annually meaning Five Guys and Fries have created a legacy in more than one way with their KEY+ project.
