As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we’re excited to share how The Key is investing in the futures of young people.

Last October, we welcomed Nicole, our brilliant Marketing Executive Apprentice, to our team and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them on board. Apprenticeships offer an incredible opportunity to develop new skills, gain hands-on experience, and kick-start a career – and at The Key, we’re proud to support young talent as they grow and thrive too.

Hear about Nicole’s experience so far as a Marketing Executive Apprentice for The Key!

Q&A with our Marketing Executive Apprentice, Nicole:

"I have a degree in English Literature which is great for some marketing skills but many companies require practical experience. This made coming out of university a struggle, especially because the job market is so competitive. By doing an apprenticeship, I’ve gained hands-on experience while working towards a qualification, making my skills and experiences stand out."

"Before starting, I didn’t know much about marketing, but through hands-on experience and learning on the job, I’ve gained a solid understanding of the field! I’ve also become more skilled in using email campaign software’s, designing web pages and creating social media posts."

"I’ve been able to take the lead on The Key’s social media, newsletters and KEY+ case studies. Managing the content calendar each month and reaching out to facilitators has been really rewarding, as it allows me to work on these marketing aspects independently."

"I’m really excited about the end-point assessment, even though I know it’ll be challenging! I enjoy planning events and will have plenty of time to develop my skills, especially as I’ll be helping The Key plan and promote events like The Key Awards – how exciting!"

"My advice would be to make the most of it and do something you really enjoy! There is so much room and opportunity for learning and personal growth!"

National Apprenticeship Week is a great time to reflect on the importance of these opportunities for young people and celebrate the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals and businesses alike.

If you’re considering an apprenticeship, remember it’s not just about gaining a qualification – its about building a foundation and contributing to something meaningful!
